Editorial Policy

This page explains how Dothound produces reviews and comparisons, how we handle money, and how we handle being wrong. It applies to every article we publish.

1. Who writes this

Dothound is independently owned and operated by [Your Full Name]. There is no parent company, no investor with a commercial interest in the products we cover, and no editorial committee. Every article that carries my byline was written by me unless it explicitly says otherwise.

2. How we decide what to cover

We cover products that a professional team would plausibly spend real money on — generally $500 and up, whether as a one-off purchase or an annual contract. Priority goes to categories where the cost of choosing wrong is high and the available information is poor. We do not cover products purely because they have generous affiliate programs, and we do not cover a product because a vendor asked us to.

3. How we test

  1. Hands-on use. We work inside the product against a defined set of tasks, logged and dated, for a minimum of 14 days.
  2. Documented criteria. Each category gets scoring criteria defined before we begin testing, not reverse-engineered from the winner.
  3. Pricing verification. We read the actual pricing page, including seat minimums, usage overages, annual-vs-monthly differences, and implementation fees. Where pricing is quote-only, we say so plainly rather than inventing a number.
  4. Secondary research. We read vendor documentation, changelogs, status history, and public complaints — and we weight what users say over what the vendor’s marketing says.
  5. Where we cannot test. If a product cannot be used without a sales call, or a budget we do not have, we say exactly that in the article rather than implying first-hand experience we do not have.

4. Money

Dothound earns revenue from affiliate commissions. That is the whole business model, and we would rather state it than bury it.

  • Affiliate relationships never determine coverage, ranking, scores, or verdicts.
  • We apply the same testing standard to products with no affiliate program.
  • We do not accept payment for reviews, ranking positions, “best of” inclusion, or link insertion.
  • Sponsored content, if it ever appears, is labeled as sponsored at the top of the page and is kept strictly separate from editorial reviews.
  • Our full Affiliate Disclosure explains how links and cookies work.

5. Corrections and updates

We review evergreen articles at least every six months and immediately after a major product or pricing change. When we change a verdict, we say so on the page and note the date. When we get a fact wrong, we correct it and add a dated note explaining what changed — we do not quietly edit and pretend the earlier version never existed.

If you spot an error, tell us at muneebh2k02@gmail.com and we will look at it promptly.

6. AI use

We use software tools, including AI-assisted tools, for research assistance, data checking, and editing. We do not publish AI-generated reviews or AI-generated product experience, and we do not use AI to fabricate testing we did not perform. Every published verdict reflects a human’s hands-on assessment, and the human whose name is on the article is accountable for it.

7. Independence and contact

We do not accept gifts, travel, or hospitality from vendors that would reasonably be seen as influencing coverage. Any vendor interaction that results in an article is disclosed in the article. Questions about this policy: muneebh2k02@gmail.com.
